Avian Ecology Lab

Lab Overview

NRRI’s Avian Ecology Lab is an applied research program that has been studying the direct impacts of environmental change on wildlife, biodiversity, habitats, and ecosystem function for over 30 years.  Using the best available technology and field techniques we gather critical data on avian and amphibian communities with a focus on species of conservation concern and vulnerable habitats. Our ecosystem-based programs focus on using birds as environmental indicators to learn about ecosystem function and implications of natural resource use and climate change.
