Bio

Rodney Bleifuss is a consultant to the Minerals Division at the Coleraine Minerals Research Laboratory (CMRL). He has been actively engaged in mineral processing research on taconite, iron ores and a wide variety of mineral commodities for nearly 50 years. Positions held include professor and assistant director, Minerals Resources Research Institute, University of Minnesota; division chief of the Minerals Beneficiation Laboratory of US Steel Corporation; and director, CMRL. He has been directly engaged in several developments in the taconite industry including the application of flotation to taconite concentrates, development of fluxed pellets, fine screening technology, magnetic separation and crushing and grinding. Current activity is focused on direct reduction processes for taconite concentrates or pellets and the design and construction of a pilot plant module to evaluate new direct reduction processes.
