Elizabeth is interested in anthropogenic and natural influences on freshwater ecosystems using algae as indicators, with particular interest in the ecology and taxonomy of phytoplankton in the Laurentian Great Lakes. Her skillset includes phytoplankton taxonomic identification and enumeration, high-resolution microscopy and imagery, and field and laboratory techniques associated with paleolimnological and phytoplankton investigations.
