A land manager might, for example, use the SUSTAIN model to compare the different impacts of different harvesting schedules, or examine the ecological significance of different stands of similar monetary value. The screenshot below shows an early version of the model listing predicted change in abundance for bird species in response to a hypothetical harvest. The completed SUSTAIN model will include a landscape level analysis of the significance of these changes, taking into account the Natural Range of Variability.
