Thomas Levar is trained as an agronomist and horticulturist, with specialties in sustainable agriculture, greenhouse management and landscape culture of plant materials. His employment began at the University of Minnesota's Soil Science Department in the analyses of plant materials and soils (1975) while he achieved his degrees, with honors. He has served as a consultant, principal scientist and general manager to agricultural, resource management and construction industries since 1981. He was instrumental as a scientist in the activities of NRRI's peat program (1984-1992) and then returned to NRRI as a member of the forestry research team (1999) following employment in the private sector. Tom is committed to sustainable, natural resource development in Minnesota and continues to assist businesses as a researcher and private consultant.
