Education and Outreach

  • In addition to publishing results of our research in peer reviewed journals and presenting results at scientific meetings, a major objective of our project is to provide information in a useable format for land use managers and to the general public. We have partnered with two environmental education organizations in northern Minnesota to develop natural resource-based curriculum.
  • Plans were developed for the environmental education program at the Boulder Lake Managment Area. Boulder Lake Management Area serves as a "window" to view full-scale, integrated natural resource management.
  • Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center provides environmental education to over half of Minnesota's students.
  • In addition, staff have participated in Minnesota Logger Education programs, sustainable forest management guidelines, and have presented dozens of citizen education programs on forest birds over the past 15 years.

You can download a PowerPoint presentation (8 MBs) that we developed for Wolf Ridge here. This may take up to 40 minutes if you have a slow connection (56 k modem).
