Mortality

As the project began its third year in 2005, mortality rates appeared to increase.  In general, mortality has not been due to nutritional condition, at least based on the evidence of little change in body mass for adult lynx that were recaptured, and a consistent body mass in adult animals captured in different years.  Most mortality has been related to human activities, as indicated below:
