Canada Lynx in the Great Lakes Region
L7 2004 Den. This may be the first Canada lynx den that has ever been found by biologists in Minnesota. The mother, L7 localized her movements in early May of 2004. On June 7, 2004 study team members visited the den site and found 3 kittens. Kittens were measured, blood samples were collected for DNA analysis, and a small ear tag was placed in each kitten’s ear.

The photographs below show the kittens, stages in processing the kittens, and some of the habitat associated with the den site. The den was located underneath the log being pointed to in the bottom right picture.
