Canada Lynx in the Great Lakes Region

Lynx #6 was captured near Isabella, MN on December 9th, 2003. A 24 pound male, he was fitted with a GPS collar and released. He was recaptured on August 3rd, 2004 and fitted with a VHF telemetry collar (bottom row).  The top right picture, taken by an automatic trail camera, shows L6 with a VHF collar.  L6 has spent much of his time in the Isabella area, but he has also made at least one trip into Ontario in the spring of 2004 when snow was still on the ground and lakes were frozen.

Study animals are anaesthetized in many of the images on this site. They regain consciousness and leave the capture site shortly after processing is finished.
