Canada Lynx in the Great Lakes Region

L5 is a male lynx that was captured north of Tofte, Minnesota on 9/24/03. L5 has moved through much of northeastern Minnesota during the period that he has been radiocollared.  He has also survived being caught in the snare of a commercial trapper.  Based on GPS and VHF collar data, he typically moves between Ontario and Minnesota in the summer months (3 times between May and November 2005) and remains in Minnesota when there is snow on the ground.

Study animals are anaesthetized in many of the images on this site. They regain consciousness and leave the capture site shortly after processing is finished.
