Canada Lynx in the Great Lakes Region

Lynx #29 was captured near the Kawishiwi River on Highway 1 on March 2nd , 2005. A 17 pound female, she was fitted with a VHF collar and released. L29 died within 24 hours of release due to unknown causes. There were no unusual conditions encountered during the processing, with normal body temperatures, pulse, and respiration measurements, and a necropsy done at the National Wildlife Health Center in Madison, Wisconsin failed to turn up either predisposing conditions or a cause of death.

   

   
Study animals are anaesthetized in many of the images on this site. They regain consciousness and leave the capture site shortly after processing is finished.
