Identification Information

Originator Finley, Robert O.
Title Original vegetation cover of Wisconsin, compiled from U.S. General Land Office notes.
Abstract Data set is a vegetative cover map for Wisconsin within Great Lakes Assessment (GLA) boundaries, derived from General Land Office notes and maps from the original land survey conducted in Wisconsin (1832-1866). Map was digitized by the Wisconsin DNR. Data set consists of polygons.
After this data was assembled, it was clipped with the 50 km buffered basin boundary, and then split into counties. This was done to provide easier access for downloading the data sets.
Purpose A base data layer.
