Lineage Michigan data for the UP is from two sources: Miris data and Industrial Forest Data of the UP of Michigan. Unfortunately there is little metadata on the Miris coverage. The Industrial Forest data is from the UPOWN coverage, developed by the Mead Corporation 1/24/95, of Escanaba Michigan. Ownership was captured for this cover from several scales: 1:24000, 1:63000, and 1:1000000.

The Wisconsin land ownership data was digitized at NRRI from a map entitled Major Public Open Space and Forest Crop Law Lands, 1:500,000, published in 1974 by the Wisconsin Planning Agency under the Land Resources Analysis Program.

The Minnesota land ownership data contains land ownership information for the entire state of Minnesota at 1:100,000 scale. Ownership reflects surface features only. Ownership may only be as current as the source information and should not be considered comprehensive for the entire state. Conservation management codes are based upon the owning or administrating entity. Land interest is expressed only when some organization owns or administers more than 50 percent of a forty.

Data for MN, WI, and MI were brought together and combined into one coverage. Data was then clipped with the 50 km lake superior basin boundary, and split into county coverages.
Source Scale Denominator 500000
