Great Lakes DEM |
| Abstract |
This data set is a compilation of USGS and hybrid NTDB (National Topographic Data Base) of Canada information. Before the two sources were combined, the Canadian information was derived from elevation countours to create a DEM from the NTDB data set. It was later resampled to 1km resolution. After this data was assembled, it was clipped with the 50 km buffered basin boundary, and then split into counties on the US side. On the Canada side, the data was left whole. This was done to provide easier access for downloading the data sets. |

| Lineage |
US: Process Description: Data were downloaded via FTP from EROS Data Center, and imported to GRID format. Process Step Process Description: Data were projected to GLA Special Albers Conic projection. Process Date: 19960205
Canada: NRRI generated a Digital Elevation Model from elevation contours (canline, states) of the Lake Superior Basin with the Grid command 'topogrid.' NRRI used coverage lsb50 to limit the extent of the DEM to the Watershed, and river for the stream argument.
Data was then clipped with the 50 km lake superior basin boundary, and split into county coverages for the US side. It was left whole for the canadian side. |
