Lineage The selected files that were extracted are as follows:

anratemp - Annual range in temperature.
grprecip - Growing season precipitation
grseasjd - Growing season length in Julian days
jdedgrow - Julian date end of the growing season
jdstgrow - Julian data start of the growing season
mamaxtem - Mean annual maximum temperature
mamintem - Mean annual minimum temperature
mgrsetem - Mean growing season temperature
mnantemp - Mean annual temperature calculated from monthly values.
temprang Temperature range for growing season

Ten data sets were extracted from this larger project:

These climate grids were subset from GLPF climate grids of the Great Lakes Region. Grids are at 5km cell resolution. Temperature values are in degrees Celsius, precipitation is in millimeters.
1) annual mean temp (calculated using monthly values) -(degrees Celsius)
2) mean diurnal range (mean) period max-min) - (degrees Celsius)
3) isothermality (2/7) - (degrees Celsius)
4) temperature seasonality (Coefficient of Variance)
5) max temperature of warmest period - (degrees Celsius)
6) min temperature of coldest period - (degrees Celsius)
7) temp annual range (5-6) - (degrees Celsius)
8) mean temp wettest quarter - (degrees Celsius)
9) mean temp driest quarter - (degrees Celsius)
10) mean temp warmest quarter - (degrees Celsius)
11) mean temp coldest quarter - (degrees Celsius) 12) annual precip (mm)
13) precip of the wettest period - (mm)
14) precip of the driest period - (mm)
15) precip seasonality (coefficient of variance)
16) precip of the wettest quarter - (mm) - quarter is a three month period
which can vary spatially 17) precip of the driest quarter - (mm)
18) precip of the warmest quarter - (mm)
19) precip of the coldest quarter - (mm)
20) julian date start of growing season - the julian day number of the last
day of 5 consecutive days when the mean daily temperature is above 5 degrees Celsius. These five days to begin no sooner than March 1 and end by the 31st of July.
21) julian date end of growing season - the julian day number of the first
day from August 1st with a minimum temperature less than -2 degrees Celsius.
22) growing season duration (26-25) - (julian days) period
definitions: period 1 = 3 months priors to growing season period 2 =
six weeks from start of growing season period 3 = the total growing
season period 4 = period 3 minus period 223) percip. period 1 - (mm)
24) precip. period 2 - (mm)25) precip. period 3 - (mm)
26) precip. period 4 - (mm)
27) growing degree days above base temp. period 1 - (no. of gdds)
28) growing degree days above base temp. period 2 - (no. of gdds)
29) return. growing degree days above base temp. period 3 - (no. of gdds)
30) growing degree days above base temp. period 4 - (no. of gdds)
- growing degree day = an accumulated heat unit using 50F as base temp
31) annual mean temperature - (degrees Celsius)
32) annual minimum temperature - (degrees Celsius)
33) annual maximum temperature - (degrees Celsius)
34) mean temp. for period 3 - (degrees Celsius)
35) temp range for period 3 - (degrees Celsius)

Data was clipped with the 50 km lake superior basin boundary, and split into county coverages for the US side. It was left whole for the canadian side.
