Call for Presentations

Abstract submissions are now being accepted for the Fifth Indo-US Workshop. The workshop program will include keynote speakers as well as oral and poster presentations. You are invited to submit a proposal for a presentation that shares your original research. Only scholarly, well-documented presentations will be accepted. The organizers will be accepting abstract submissions for platform presentations through April 25th, 2008. Poster abstracts will be accepted until June 6th.

Presentation Options

Platform Presentations
Presentations will be 40 minutes long (including 5 minutes for questions). More details on acceptable presentation formats will be provided in the near future.

Poster Presentations
Poster display boards (10 feet wide by 6 feet tall) will be provided for poster presentations. We recommend that posters not be more than 3 feet tall, so that the posters do not hang too low on the display boards. Presenters are required to attend their posters during the poster session on Tuesday evening, June 24th.

Preparing the Abstract
The following instructions must be followed when preparing your abstract for submission (see sample abstract).

  • All proposals must be in English.
  • All proposals must be accompanied by a cover letter (see below for details).
  • The title should be in lowercase letters except for proper names and the beginning word of the title.
  • Include the author's name, institution and complete address. For multiple authors, separate authors' names and addresses by a semicolon.
  • If multiple authors are from the same institution, separate names with a comma. Underline the name of the author who is giving the presentation.
  • Skip a line before beginning the abstract text.
  • Single space text with a double line break between paragraphs.
  • The proposal body is limited to 400 words (one page).
  • Use a flush left (no indent) margin.
  • Use Times New Roman and font size 10 point. All scientific names should be in italics.

Abstract Deadline
Platform presentation abstract for the joint meeting of the Eighth International Conference on Mathematical Chemistry and the Fifth Indo-US Workshop on Mathematical Chemistry will be accepted through April 25th, 2008. Abstracts for poster presentations will be accepted until the available poster space is filled.

Abstract Review
All abstract proposals will be reviewed carefully for content, clarity and conformity to size and format instructions. Those not adhering to these standards risk rejection of their abstract. The review committee reserves the right to accept requests for platform presentations as poster presentations due to time constraints. Presenters will be notified by letter or email by May 9, 2008 regarding the status of their proposal for presentation at the conference. All presenters are expected to pay the full registration fee for the workshop.

Book of Abstracts
All registered participants will receive a copy of the book of abstracts at the beginning of the workshop. Additional copies of the book of abstracts will be available for purchase following the conclusion of the workshop.

The organizers are currently investigating options for publishing full papers presented at the meeting in a peer-reviewed, international journal. More details will be made available on the conference website as arrangements are made.

Methods for Abstract Submission

Email Submission
Follow the instructions for preparing your abstract. It is preferred that you send your abstract as an email attachment, however, if necessary the abstract can be included in the body of the email. Attached files should be created in Microsoft Word, written for either DOS or Mac. If you use any other word processing program, save your abstract as a rich-text file (.rtf) and send the rich-text version by email. Be sure to include ALL of the information requested on the cover sheet listed below. Send abstract and required information to:

Mail Submission
If email access is not available, you may submit your abstract on diskette by mail. Follow the instructions for preparing your abstract. Submit your abstract on a 3.5 inch diskette or CD-R. The disk may be formatted for either Windows or Mac (CD-R media must be formatted for Windows) and the abstract file should be created in Microsoft Word or be saved in rich-text file format. Include ALL of the information requested on the cover sheet listed below and include a printed copy of the abstract and cover sheet. To have receipt of your proposal acknowledged, provide an email address or enclose a self-addressed postcard. Send disk, cover sheet, and hard copy to the address listed below. If mailing your abstract, please allow sufficient time for delivery. If your abstract arrives too late it will not be included in the book of abstracts and there may not be space available for your presentation.
