Workshop News
  • March 8, 2005— In response to numerous requests, the organizers have agreed to extend the manuscript submission deadline for JCIM and SAR and QSAR in Environmental Research for one month. Manuscripts are due no later than April 12, 2005. See the Call for Abstracts page for more details on submitting manuscripts.
  • Jan. 9, 2005— The Program page has been updated to reflect last minute changes in the workshop technical program.
  • Jan. 3, 2005— In addition to publishing conference proceedings in JCIM, we have made arrangement to publish papers from the workshop in SAR and QSAR in Environmental Research. Please see the Call for Abstracts page for details.
  • Dec. 20, 2004— A detailed program schedule has been posted on the Program page. Also, we have news about conference proceedings. Please see the Call for Abstracts page for details.
  • Nov. 12, 2004— The organizers will help to arrange transportation for participants to Pune from the Mumbai airport and back after the conference. See the General Information page under the heading How to Reach Pune for more information.
  • Nov. 11, 2004—Presenters have been notified regarding the status of their abstract submissions and the program for the workshop is more or less set. A tentative program outline has been posted here, and the list of speakers has been updated to indicate which platform and poster presentation titles.
  • Oct. 25, 2004—It was just recently brought to our attention that there was an error on the registration forms. The University of Pune will only accept the registration fee as a bank demand draft. The registration form has been updated. We have been notified by the Indian organizers that they are returning any personal checks that were sent, our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

Additionally, registration information will be finalized and available on-line no later than Sep. 10th.
  • June 1, 2004—The second announcement and Call for Abstracts for the Fourth Indo-US Workshop on Mathematical Chemistry was sent out. We are currently working with the local workshop organizers to finalize details for the conference.
  • Dec. 15, 2003—The first announcement for the Fourth Indo-US Workshop on Mathematical Chemistry has just been sent. If you did not receive a copy of the announcement, and would like to be added to our mailing list, please send an email to with Subscribe Indo-US Workshop in the subject line.

The Fourth Indo-US Workshop on Mathematical Chemistry with applications to drug design, risk assessment of chemicals, chemoinformatics, bioinformatics, computational biology and toxicology will be held during January 8–12, 2005, in Pune, India. The conference is being sponsored jointly by the University of Pune, Pune, Maharashtra (India), the Natural Resources Research Institute of the University of Minnesota Duluth, (USA) and the International Society of Mathematical Chemistry.

Dilip K. Sinha, University of Calcutta (India) and Subhash C. Basak, Natural Resources Research Institute, University of Minnesota Duluth (USA), are the Co-Chairpersons of the Indo-US Workshop on Mathematical Chemistry Series from India and the United States, respectively.

The First Indo-US Workshop was held during January 9-13, 1998, at Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan, West Bengal, India. The Second Indo-US Workshop was held at the University of Minnesota Duluth, USA, during May 30-June 3, 2000. Over one hundred scientists from four continents participated in both the First and Second Indo-US Workshops. The Third Indo-US Workshop was held this past August (2–7, 2003) at the University of Minnesota Duluth, USA.

The Fourth Indo-US Workshop will bring together leading researchers in the field of Mathematical and Computational Chemistry. The results of the latest research in the field will be presented along with important applications of mathematical and computational approaches to chemistry, drug discovery, environmental toxicology, quantitative structure-activity relationships (QSAR), quantitative molecular similarity analysis (QMSA), chemoinformatics and bioinformatics, including genomics and proteomics.

Tentative titles for presentations are now being accepted for the Fourth Indo-US Workshop. If you are interested in participating in this workshop please send the title of your presentation along with your name and contact information by email (preferred), fax or mail to:
