The Indo-US Lecture Series on Mathematical Chemistry with Applications to Drug Discovery, Environmental Protection, Genomics, and Proteomics began in January 2007. The primary objective of the conference is to sensitize the young minds of the two nations to applications of discrete mathematics in various frontiers of chemistry and biology which include structure characterization, property/activity estimation, pollution control, drug design, proteomics, and genomics. The Lecture Series is targeted at students of graduate courses (registered for PhD), post graduate courses, and in the final year of under-graduate courses of mathematics, physics, biophysics, chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, bioinformatics, pharmaceutical chemistry, marine biology, etc. The resource persons are significant contributors of the field mainly from USA and India. The proceedings of the Lecture Series will be published in the form of lecture notes and thus will become a valuable reference material for the students. It must be emphasized that this lecture series does not offer a forum for scientists to present exhaustive research papers; on the contrary, it is intended to train young scientists in the various domains where discrete mathematics finds application. The Third Indo-US Lecture Series on Discrete Mathematical Chemistry will be held at Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, India (January 7-10, 2008). Eminent scientists from the USA and India will be brought together, along with students from across India, for this event. |
