Lucinda Johnson

On the shoreline with Lucinda Johnson

After 21-plus years at NRRI, seeing research products incorporated into agency management practices is still a good feeling for Lucinda Johnson.

As interim director of NRRI’s Center for Water and the Environment, Johnson leads a team of scientists and technicians who develop tools and data that “help managers and policy makers understand the ramifications of human activities in the structure and health of surface waters,” she explains.

Some of her best experiences at NRRI have included brainstorming new projects with colleagues and students. As a research scientist, Johnson’s expertise is in landscape and aquatic ecology and her interests focus on the interactions between land and water. It’s not surprising that she says her favorite place to relax is “on or near almost any stream or river.”

Johnson enjoys gardening, hiking, swimming and Sudoku puzzles, and is passionate about good food and New Zealand’s pinot noir wines. She lives with her husband Randall and three dogs.
