Proteomics is an important cornerstone of functional genomics. In proteomics, thousands of proteins are separated in a 2-D gel based on charge and mass. The amount of data present on a 2-D gel can be overwhelming. We are developing methods for the quantitative characterization of proteomics maps using matrix invariants associated with proteomics maps.
DNA sequences of organisms can be modified by reactive chemicals. Our group has been active in research in developing numerical invariants for the characterization of DNA sequences.
