The Coastal GIS website
provides data to those who live and work in and around the Coastal
Program Boundary (see map below). We have arranged the data in three
spatial extents. Please read the descriptions of these areas below
to help you decide what information will best fit your needs. The
projection information for all of the data found on this website is
the Standard Projection for Minnesota, unless mentioned otherwise
in the metadata.
Horizontal Coordinate Scheme: UTM
Ellipsoid: GRS1980
Horizontal Datum: NAD 83
Units/Resolution: Meters
UTM Zone: 15
All of the data are provided as shapefiles and are zipped using the
winzip.exe program.

Coastal Program Boundary:
The data is clipped to the Coastal Program Boundary. These
files would be best if you are interested in information
that only affects the area within the Coastal Program
Boundary. The file sizes are small. |

Lake Superior Basin:
This data is clipped to the Lake Superior Basin Boundary.
These files would be best if you are interested in information
that affects the entire area the drains into Lake Superior.
These files are the largest on the website. |

County:
This data is clipped to each individual county in Minnesota:
Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Lake, Pine, and St. Louis.
Use theses files if you are interested in information
that affects one individual county. Some of these files
are large, based on the size of the county. |
