non desuctive evaluation of timber

Welcome to our Nondestructive Evaluation program

Evaluating wood and wood products just makes sense. With some 4,000 timber bridges in Minnesota, inspections of their structural integrity is an ongoing process. Our wood experts tested six technologies for nondestructive wood testing that the Minnesota Department of Transportation bridge inspectors can use to inspect the timber structures, without damaging the wood. After training sessions with us and the Northland Advanced Transportation System Research Laboratory, the Resistograph drill is one such tool now being used to make more informed decisions about bridges.
